As we all know, backcountry skiing or snowboarding is not the safest sport you can think of, but with the use of some methods, the risk might be slightly lowered. When you ski the Revelstoke Mountain Resort you can feel a bit safer compared to true Canadian wilderness. The area surrounding the resort that are prone to avalanches are regularly controlled by the ski patrol who detonate explosives to trigger controlled slides. But when you head out to the backcountry at Rogers Pass, you need to bear in mind, that your only weapon against the forces of nature are your skills, experience and knowledge. In case anything happens, your buddies are your only hope.
