Glacier

I definitely don’t like glaciers! Labyrinths of crevasses, icefalls, seracs, fragile snow bridges, having to walk on them at night, and all that rocky mess glaciers leave behind. I experienced some of the worst moments of my life on the glacier, and got a large scar on my arm as a souvenir. Sometimes I even wish them badly, but then I think about how fast they are melting because of the climate change and I feel sorry for them. Now we slowly walk through one of these vast postglacial rubble fields,

trying not to twist an ankle, nor throw a boulder on someone’s head. Skiing Pisco was great – perfect weather, nice snow, stress free. But it’s been a long day – the sun, the effort and the altitude have done their job, we are already very tired. I have only one thought in my head – a vision of cold beer in a shelter. Just a moment, maybe an hour, and there will be no rocks, no backpack, only cold, golden drink with bubbles in my hand.
