First flights
We got our first flight day after 7 days. This was the first time I saw the whole tenure in my own eyes and it was just totally awesome. Mountain ranges were stretching as far as you can see. Spines, pillows, chutes…… everything you love as a skier was there. We did some snow studies just to find some weak layers in the snow. It was not the best season for Canada and Alaska. Low snow level and a lot of variable temperatures made the snowpack unstable. We searched for the best and safest spots to ski and found some really good ones.
I could finally get down to work, learning how to cooperate with the heli pilot, search for drop off locations, pick up zones and landing spots. You have to work fast and make straight decisions saving precious helitime. After some pretty cool days I got used to working with the helicopter. It was like using the car for going skiing. I could explore Peter´s heliskiing tenure a lot and I found some really interesting zones for filming.
