When I think of the early days of freeriding, I just have to mention my old friend Piotr Gasiorowski. We met on a summer job at a local sports store. The whole crew of this store were total mountain maniacs, and we also got hooked. We were running in the mountains after work, sometimes at night. In the late 1990s we started to venture more and more into unknown terrain with our skis, and that was also the moment when we first saw mythical American ski movies and foreign ski magazines. We already knew that it was exactly what we wanted to do! We saw Glen Plake who was rocking just a headband, and so did we. Naturally it ended up with a massive infection and flus, but who cared! These days, I still raced on skates, but slowly skiing started to take the first place.
